Question by tropicalbreeze: Can a police officer show someone a police report when that person is not involved?
I was curious, my crazy ex showed me a police report involving someone really close to me to sabbatoge the relationship. Was he allowed to do that? What are the police ethics. Can they do back ground checks on your spouse for no reason? Can they run a plate from a car that sits in front of your house? Or would it be consider harrassment and an invasion of privacy? Also, what can happen if a cop is slandering you? My ex is a control freak and makes my life hell!!! Advice on how to deal with him please.

I believe police reports are public record through the freedom of information act.

I just joined okcupid a few weeks ago, and I’ve been talking to this really nice guy. He lives 5 miles from me and seems pretty normal. He wants to meet me in person, so we’re going on a date on saturday. I’m just a bit paranoid that he’s gonna want to rape me or something. And how do I know if he has herpes? lol I don’t know his dating background. I’ve only kissed one guy in my life so I’m quite new at this dating thing. Any advice?

make sure you meet him in a public place with plenty of people around. and the only way to tell if he has herpes is if he is having a “break out” or going and getting a check up for your first date lol, have fun and be safe

If I give my landlord 12 post-dated cheques for rent, will I eventually get receipts for the bank when each one is cashed? Because he did not give me any receipts for them – he said I’d get receipts from the bank when each one clears. Is this right?

The amount for the checks will show up on your bank statements which are available to you by various means depending on your account choices. Banks used to snail mail out all of your cleared checks with you monthly statements. Now they just take a picture of them and store the image which is available to you upon request. They may or may not charge you for this service on an item by item basis depending on the banking package you have signed on for.

If a company fires you for a background check they do 4 weeks after you have been working there, is that legal? Do they have to do this before the hire date?
they never asked about a background check. they just decided today to do one.

Typically they make you sign an application that states you will be truthful on your application. If they find out anything that proves you lied on the app, they can fire you anytime, even 10 years later.

Lol i know this may seem lame but i meet my amazing wonderful boyfriend online and we’ve been together for 5 years we talk almost everyday and we video chat and everything after 1 year we finally meet and it was like true love we went to disney world and had a blast lol we still are dating and still in love I’m pretty sure he is the one because he loves everything about me and i love everything about him but I’m very lucky and I’ve heard story’s on the news were a girl meet a guy online and they meet and the guy raped her and killed her you should be very careful online!!
