Question by Eerie: Website to look up free court cases in pennsylvania?
Is there a free public site to look up people in Pennsylvania to see crimes they committed? Bad checks, dui’s or things like that. Not a background check that I have to pay for.

The PA Unified Judicial System website is about as close as you’re going to get. It’s not as comprehensive as a background check that you pay for, but if they’ve gone to court for a criminal charge it will be here. You have to know the county (usually) and the older records from before 1980 are not always 100% up to date, but hey, it’s free!

You have to get that from the original court of jurisdiction. Don’t hold your breath waiting for it.

When you go to apply for a job or an apartment and they ask you for your criminal background, if they do a background check on you, do they have access to the discovery? The part that says what happened, how it happened and etc. Or can they only see what the criminal offense is.

It depends.

Technically that information would be a matter of public record, so if the potential employer or landlord really WANTS to take the time, effort and effort to do a Public Records request they CAN. But this is very unusual.

The normal criminal background check just reveals convictions with the dates of the offenses.

Question by King: Does an ordinance violation show up on a background check if you were a minor when cited and went to court?
On the citation itself, it says the category of violation is “other”, but really i had possession of weed, under the limit. I had a court date. would it show on an employment background check?

i do not believe so cause after you turn 18 t=you get a clean record unless you did something really bad

I just got offered a job on a military post and have no felony or misdemeanor arrests or convictions except for an arrest for misdemeanor assault arrest that happened about a month ago. I haven’t been to court or been given a court date. I didn’t lie on the application because it asked if I had any felony convictions. Is it going to show up on a background check? I don’t want to tell them if its not going to show up.

No you wont pass. Of course itl show up on a background check, thats what the checks look for..

I’m getting married in Brazil and I need to change my tourist visa to a permanent visa. I need to get a fingerprint FBI background check to give to the federal police here in brazil. Will this show up and potentially deny my visa request?
so if it does show up, will Brazil deny my visa?

Only certain crimes are sent to the FBI. A common traffic ticket will not meet the criteria for the FBI to keep track of. Something like Hit and Run with an injury might meet the criteria for the FBI.

I’m pretty sure it wont appear until you’re officially charged with the violation and I dont think you are charged until your court date.

i got minor possession at a concert last month and my court date is november 9th. and im starting cna classes on november first and i have to get a background check. will it show up? i live in indiana.
i wasn’t arrested, he just wrote me a ticket.

I’m just curious if a court date for a paraphernalia charge would come up in a background check if i haven’t been to court for it yet or convicted. also would a charge that was dropped come up?
Also, I was not arrested or fingerprinted for anything. I was just given a summons an one of those was dropped.

If you were processed, fingerprints etc. the arrest will show up w/o a judicial disposition.

If found guilty, the judicial disposition will be added later.
