Question by Geoff: How long does it take to set a date for MEPS for Marines? After the background check?
So I just sent my background check packet to my recruiters office. Since I live so far away from him he has decided that I am gonna take my asvab and do MEPS all on the same day. I am just wondering how long should it take for him to “Set a date” like he told me, he needed to do.

It shouldn’t take that long. My recruiter made my date for MEPS before I got the background check paperwork done. It all just depends on the MEPS near you, and your recruiter.

I shouldn’t expect it to take too long. Ask him, only he really knows.

Any such site only has the data which is currently available. If the public sources for criminal records have not been updated, then the background check site cannot access them (obviously)

I have been to several sites that say they are free, but they ask for money??? I would like to be able to sceen my home health care providers. They are in my home and I would like to feel a little safer. They are screened befeore they are hired at the company, but I am happy when I can see first hand.

Question by silverscreen49: FBI Criminal Background Check with an Apostille?
I am going to teach English in South Korea for a year, and I need to obtain an FBI Criminal Background check and it needs to be apostilled (can this be a verb?).

I sent in the paperwork for the Criminal Check, and also noted that it needed to be signed and prepared for an Apostille.

My question, is where can I get this Apostilled? I leave very close to Austin, Texas. Can I go to Austin and get it apostilled, or do I have to mail it in to Washington?

My insurance company is demanding post dated checks over a period of two months is it legal to charge a service charge for this service? Morally I would think No it’s not right, but no a days no one seems to have much morals.

I don’t think it’s ethical to even ask you to give them post-dated checks. It makes no sense for them to demand post-dated check then ask you to pay a fee to hand them over. Look for a new insurance company, and call your state Insurance Commission and report the company.

The company can still deposit your checks, as banks will not refuse checks that are post-dated unless the bank has been previously notified (there’s a fee to watch for the check). So many transactions are electronic that the date is not always checked, and post-dating is really not acceptable. Doing so can be considered a check fraud if you write the checks and don’t have ALL the funds to cover all of the checks in your account.

When I was 17, I was charged as an adult for larceny over $ 250 and identity fraud. ……. Yes I was an idiot and I hung out with the wrong crowd …… I’m now 24 and haven’t been into trouble since (it’s been 7 years).

I’ve never been convicted, though. The judge was very good to me and gave me a CWOF (continuance without a finding) which resulted in a dismissal after 1 year probation and restitution. Needless to say, I complied with the terms of my 1 year probation and the aforementioned charges were dismissed.

I’ve never been convicted of those felonies. For employment purposes, would I pass a criminal background check? Where can I go to run my background to see if I would pass a criminal check?

I think it’s important to note that I’m from Massachusetts.

You can do a search online at places similar to PeopleSearch. If you have the SSN, birthdate, and full name (which you would) you can get your own background check online for a fee…typically starting at about $ 40.

EDIT
In answer to your other question, it would show you what you have on your criminal background check. Whether or not it would cause you to “pass” or “fail” if someone looked it up is entirely up to that person and what they require. But if there IS something in your criminal history, it would show you what it is and when it occurred.
